Xoliswa Daku, Founder and CEO of Daku Group of Companies


Xoliswa Daku is the Founder and CEO of Daku Group of Companies, which focuses on Project development, investments, acquisitions, project management, facilities and property management.

Xoliswa is a finalist in the Property Sector of 2012’s “Most Influential Women in Business Awards”, identified by CEO magazine attest. She continues to actively influence and transform the property industry in South Africa. In 2013 she has won the “BBQ Outstanding Women in Business Award”, for her outstanding work as a business woman.

She has worked on some of the best projects such as the One and Only Hotel in Cape Town, Khayelitsha Hospital and Mall and Koegerberg Interchange to name a few. She is currently working on the John Mason Park, Mayfair Student Accommodation and the Breidback projects, to name a few.

She holds an Executive MBA from UCT Graduate School of Business. She is also a lawyer by profession. She holds an LLM degree from UWC. She sits in the boards for the NHBRC, SENTECH, Anglican Church board of trustees to name a few.

Although she has worked for a variety of patrons, there has been a strong passion for developing women in business. Xoliswa served as the National Chairperson for the South African Women Enterprise Network (SAWEN), an initiative of the Department of Trade and Industry. She was very much instrumental in the formation of Women Empowerment institutions by national departments and worked closely with the Department of Trade and Investment on BEE issues.

As the Chairperson of the NHBRC she started a women empowerment programme for the social transformation committee. Where they train and mentor 100 women in property and construction through GIBBS to ensure that opportunities are availed to them. Since the early days in the legal fraternity she led the establishment of centres for rape victims, leading to the development of institutional framework and governance structures for women based initiative such women in transport etc.

As the CEO and Founder of Daku Group of Companies, she has started the Daku Group Academy which was launched in 2017, whereby she mentors 20 women in business, in partnership with MANCOSA and Radisson Blu Sandton. 

Her passion for women empowerment continues at the moment with the women’s build programme working with the department of human settlement in identifying destitute women and assisting in building houses through alternative technology.
